Opportunities have arisen to join the school’s SEND Department at an exciting time of development. As part of our drive to improve the progress of pupils with SEN, we are recruiting enthusiastic, talented and committed SEN practitioners to join our staff team. The department is building its capacity to provide small group teaching/tailored intervention programmes at an early stage to enable students to establish their coping strategies for working within classes.

You will play an integral role in delivering, monitoring and reporting back on the impact of these interventions and work with other team members to create teaching resources that enable access to learning.

You will have an enthusiastic and caring nature, the ability to engage well with young people, a good standard of written and spoken English and be committed to improving not only students’ academic attainment but also their independence, behaviour, self-confidence and self-esteem.

Applications are welcome from both experienced teaching assistants and those considering this, or teaching, as a career. This post could be ideal for a recent graduate seeking a route into teaching

The school is keen to appoint experienced SEN practitioners with additional experience, qualifications and expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • developing literacy skills
  • developing numeracy skills
  • specific learning difficulties
  • autistic spectrum conditions
  • Speech, language and communication needs

The role will involve working with individuals and groups of pupils, planning and delivering interventions and working with individuals and teams of staff to ensure that lesson approaches are differentiated to meet pupil needs.

Successful candidates will be competent with Mathematics and English, possess good organisational skills, be ICT literate and have excellent communication skills and ideally have A Level qualifications.

The applicant needs to be able to readily make positive relationships with all students and to engage, motivate and stretch our young people. They should be passionate about promoting learning engagement and achievement to ensure all students fulfil their full potential.

The school offers opportunities for further professional development, working with children who respond to passionate teaching and working in an established team with supportive colleagues.  We have a strong, inclusive community spirit and a positive behavior culture.

Appointment is subject to a clear DBS check to an enhanced level.
