We are a thriving secondary school in East Finchley, determined to achieve the best for the students in our charge. We have high expectations of achievement for all. As a Catholic community, we strive to uphold strong spiritual and moral values, both in and outside the classroom. Our philosophy is inclusive; we stretch our most able and support those with special and additional needs. We want to ensure that all have the opportunities they need to fulfil their potential.
On 1st September Bishop Douglass became a constituent member of the Cardinal Hume Academies Trust. Director of Education for the Diocese of Westminster, JP Morrison said, “The Diocese is delighted and encouraged by the outstanding level of progress in academic performance achieved by Bishop Douglass Catholic School. This is testament to the hard work of the staff and students of the school. The move to academy status will benefit the community as will the other schools within the Cardinal Hume Trust by having it join them. This is a community that the whole of Barnet should be proud of. The diocesan family of schools certainly are.”
We offer excellent facilities for all our students, including a state of the art Science Block, Sports Hall and Fitness Centre, Dance Hall, Drama Studio, Music Technology and Art specialist rooms as well as over 800 computers just for student use. We continue to move forward at Bishop Douglass, through adopting and incorporating new practices such as e-learning in every classroom, as well as 24 hour access to the curriculum through a well used Virtual Learning Environment.
